A few days ago I learned that I have to physically plug my hdmi cord into my graphics card. After doing this I experienced a blackscreen and my monitor told me there has been no signal on hdmi. I can use it on my integrated graphics on my motherboard, but not my gpu which I really want to use. My gpu is the msi r9 290x . I was told that I have to change to PCIE in my bios but my motherboard is the asus z97 pro which has a UEFI bios. It's complicated for a new builder like me and although I though I figured out how to do it, I still get no signal on hdmi. Additionally, my bios said it would automatically use my gpu if it detected one, however it was using integrated graphics so it cant detect my gpu. My gpu still has power though because the fans are running. I really am pleading for help here. I've workedso hard on this and still cant figure it out. Please help!

That happened to me when I built my computer. Try to plug the video to the DVI output and install the latest drivers of your GPU, that should be in the manufacturer web page.

Or you can download the latest drivers using the integrated graphics and then try to plug your HDMI.

OK i tried that and it didn't work. I have the latest drivers installed but it still doesnt work. Does the fact that the fans are spinning mean that the GPU is still good or could it still be DOA?
