I upgraded my connection to 1 gig fiber optics and my download speed according to speedtest is sitting at 882.24 mbps and yet my download speeds are only averaging around 900 kbs. I don't understand how my d/l's are now slower with an upgrade from comcast to fiber optics and i have a router that is capable of 1300 mbps. Any help would be appreciated.

What site are you downloading from. Just because you have a fast connection does not mean the download site allows you to run at whatever speed you want. Many put artificial limitation on them to avoid a couple of people with fast connections blocking everyone else by using up all the server connections bandwidth.

You must check a number of download sites and see what you get. Microsoft tends to have very high bandwidth and pretty fast rates.

If you choose different speedtest servers, especially those farther away, you will get slower results. There are many factors that affect how fast you can download. It just normally is the local connection but with faster connections to the house the other bottlenecks are becoming more visible.

Sorry for the delay, I am downloading from youtube and my old cable connection, which was slower, was getting better speeds, I am currently only using a dual-band router for my line connection and not sure if maybe things might speed up if had a modem attached to the router. Most places i visit, the older connection was much better than my current connection and now i just feel stupid for thinking that i upgraded to something that was supposed to be
better.
