Question I recieved a Norton pop up on Internet Explorer with a warning and my PC gave off a constant, loud beeping sound. What does this mean?

I just finished downloading some mods off of Nexusmods.com and was browsing the internet with Internet Explorer and a pop up allegedly from Norton said my computer has been damaged and all files will be deleted and the computer made a loud and constant beeping or ringing sound (my motherboard doesn't have a speaker so not sure where it came from). I just closed the tab with the warning and the ringing stopped.

Is this malware I likely got from a mod? Is it dangerous? What might the beeping mean?

Do you have Norton installed?

If not then most likely it was a scam popup trying to get you to click a link. Its advisable to run ad and popup blockers and for extra security run a script blocker to stop these types of things.

I don't, no. Is it this a cause for concern or not big deal? Like, can anyone get this pop up or does it mean a specific type of malware was installed?

I'll try those, thank you.
