Solution
I LOVE YOU BLUNTZ, I almost RE-Installed windows 7. I was so pissed, it kept giving me a BSOD after the windows loading screen and would not even launch in safe mode. I also had no idea it was AVG, I thought I had issue's with my RAM. I came to Tom's to start a thread and found this one. I love you guys =)

If you have problems like I did, where windows would not even get to the users screen, here is what I did to access and chage the folder name:
Put in my win7 disk, booted from CD drive obviously ^.- went to repair windows, then selected witch drivers to load (instead of repairing, or re-installing *thank god*), and from there you can access your HDD's. I just simply changed AVG's folder name in Program files x86, and it worked, started right up.
Again ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty ty
=)
P.S. If I knew you or were you lived ( not asking btw ) I would mail you a blunt, but I can't, so this ones for you! * puff puff * 😛

On a side note, start up recovery would not fix this ether. I hope people have another PC to access the interwebs and find a solution for there problem like I did. Or they might do what I was about to.... Re-install windows =(
bad AVG, bad.

hey thanks for the help but when i go to change the file name it says: The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program
Close the folder or file and try again.

hahah no problem glab i can help. thats the only reason i signed up here to post how to fix it

have u tried downloading avg rescue cd from the link. you dont need a windows 7 cd to rename the folder to fix the error.

str8 from avg site.

we regret to inform you that latest virus database 271.1.1/3292 (432/3292) released 12:53 AM CET requested computer restart with inability to start the system again with error:

STOP: c0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

We have immediately downgraded published failing version to fully functional 271.1.1/3291 (432/3291).

If you have unfortunately met mentioned error, please follow these steps:

If is possible to boot into Safe Mode, then run System Restore before the night AVG update and re-install AVG.

If is not possible to boot computer at all, please follow this How-To.

Or use AVG Rescue CD -> menu Utilities -> Midnight Commander -> navigate to /mnt/sda1/program files/ (or program files (x86)) and rename by F6 AVG folder to other name (for example AVG_old).

Windows 7 Startup Repair
Described at this Microsoft website - follow section "To open the System Recovery Options menu on your computer"

Then start your system again and re-install AVG.

Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences caused by this situation.

i used this method> use AVG Rescue CD -> menu Utilities -> Midnight Commander -> navigate to /mnt/sda1/program files/ (or program files (x86)) and rename by F6 AVG folder to other name (for example AVG_old).

or are u having a different error message?
