Hello everyone, my notebook has only one jack for microphone and speakers/headphones. And recently I have been switching between speaker and headphone many times on a daily bases so everytime I plugged in speakers or headphones, it would ask me if it is speakers or headphone so I figured it doesn't even matter which one i choose so i set speakers as default. But now when I plug in a microphone my notebook thinks I plugged in speaker, so my microphone doesn't work.

Any idea how to revert default setting?

Solution
For Microphones:

Go to Microphone Properties > Listen Tab

Check the "Listen to this device" and "Playback through this device" settings.

There are additional settings via the "Advanced" Tab. Selecting the tab may appear to do nothing but a window ( Audio Control Panel) may pop up after a bit.
Right-click the speaker icon lower right screen area.

You can go into Playback Devices and Recording Devices to see all of the available devices.

Select each of your various devices and go into properties. There are quite a few tabs and options available for both Playback and Recording.

Check through your configurations and try to set things to match your setup. You may need to "drill down" a bit to get to the necessary setting(s).

I see your point, the thing is, my notebook has its own speaker and microphone. when I plug my dedicated microphone, it starts to act as speaker
