My question: which model G502?
I found 4 (four) models. The shop may charge you more than it would cost to buy a new G 502 mouse of the same model.
G 502 models: Hero, Lightspeed, Proteus, Proteus Core.

Agree. However my view is that there is probably little to lose by trying.
Flush the unplugged mouse with distilled water, shake out, and flush/shake again. Do not overdo the shaking part.....
Place mouse in a warm dry ventilated place and let thoroughly dry as recommended. Position so any remaining water could drain out/away from the scroll wheel.
My belief is that the repair shop is likely to try that (or something similar) as a first step anyway. Maybe put the mouse in a bag of rice.
Safer for them, in some ways, than risking a runaway spring.
(Scenrio: They lose a spring, give back the mouse, say the mouse cannot be fixed - then bill you.)
Just my thoughts on the matter.
