Well i am an idiot who accidentally spilled water inside my motherboard while cleaning my pc. It only hit a small part of my motherboard but some of it went inside the part where u are supposed to insert the gpu(had removed the gpu for cleaning).

What should I do? Is there hope if i leave it to dry for a few hours? Will it be safe for my gpu if i put it back in to check if it works after drying?

Open the case up and let it dry fully before applying power. You could also use a hair dryer to speed the process, just don't focus the heat on anything or get it too hot. Treat like your hair and you'll be safe.

If you dry it fully, and the water was clean, it should be just fine. PWA's are water washed as part of the manufacturing...
Hopefully you werent using water to clean any part of your PC! Only air and lint free, anti static cloths. Besides that though, a small amount of pure water spilled on a Mobo that doesn't have any power (not even connected to a PSU) and allowed to thoroughly (days, maybe, whatever it takes to be 100% dry) should be fine. After all, the parts are solid and shouldn't "wash away" and if there's no power, not even residual, they can't short.

That said, a note of caution. It must be absolutely 100% dry including inside any connectors before power is restored. If that means leaving it to dry for a week, that's what it means (dry time depends on a number of factors including humidity). Also, if it wasnt pure water (any additives..or if it was unfiltered tap water) you'll also need to be very careful that it didn't leave any deposits behind when drying that could cause a short or block a connection.

Thanks for the answers.... It was regular drinking water from the purifier for drinking/non cleaning purposes.... I thoroughly cleaned everything and let the case and mobo dry under a table fan for about 5 hours..... Made sure everything was dry.... Then tried powering it..... Everything works fine now.
