I have a couple of SATA extension data cables that I suspect might be defective. But both cables are brand new...

I interchanged and replaced the cables, but error still occurs, might be the disk also...not sure, but about once a day, there is a pop that says "windows need to check and repair the disk"

Do these errors mean my data is not safe and might be corrupted?

I can't be 100% positive, but I think the errors only pop up with the new cables...will have to check without them, but it takes a few days to know...

So the basic question is, could a bad sata cable corrupt data?

Disk is new Samsung EVO SSD, disk is data disk, not OS disk.
