Hi all,

Supermicro X9SRH-7TF motherboard, Xeon E5-2640 V2.

I suspect I killed the mobo with sparks when I had to use a dremel to get the cpu cooler off - screw head broke).

PSU plugged in, when I hit the power switch absolutely nothing happens. PSU doesn't even spin up. No LEDs, no beeps, it's like I plugged it into a potato.

Swapped out the PSU and I get the same result. CPU still works in another board.

Any other steps I missed? Could trying to clear the BIOS make a difference?

are you sure you got all the metal shavings off the motherboard? a tiny shard in the right place...
clearing the BIOS takes a few minutes and cost nothing, go for it.
I took the mobo out and blasted it with canned air. There's nothing I can see, although it's possible there's a stubborn one stuck somewhere. Maybe I should wave a magnet over the entirety of the board. Worth a try I suppose.
