I suspect the PSU fan is failing in my Synology unit, can I just replace the fan?

The unit will just shut down at random times and give me an error that it was shutdown improperly. When I turned it on, it was blinking a blue light. I also hear a strange fan sound once in a while, like a fan is straining and failing.

The fan however is hardwired in. I was thinking of just finding a replacement the same size and maybe just cutting the old fan wires and then using electrical tape or something to connect the wires to the new fans in order to replace it. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

The fan itself may have a label that is helpful on the motor side. You may even be able to check with Synology assuming the unit is still under support. Side concern would be along the lines of whether you have been cleaning this unit of dust and whatnot and how sure you are the failures are due to the cabinet and/or of the drives?
