I think a Steam game has messed up my mouse, any help?

I bought Bloons TD 5 on Steam and right away as soon as I installed and started playing it my mouse started doing this weird thing where if I single clicked on something it would often act as if I double clicked. If I wanted to click on a tower within the game I often have to click it a few times for it to stay highlighted. I have just uninstalled it but my mouse is still doing this

have you restarted PC since? it might stop it?

is mouse a generic mouse or does it have own software?
