So i was sitting at the computer and went to make a drink. Came back and computer was off. Still had power to the monitor but tried resetting the power bar. Nothing. Dead.

Tried replacing the power cord to a new one. Still dead.

Now if I flip the switch on the psu and then try turning the computer on ill get a one second flash of lights then back to dead. To get the lights on for a second I have to flip the switch off then back on each time.

Opened it up. No real dust. Psu wasn't hot, nothing else had any residual heat.. No other ideas on what it might be. Dont have any other psu to try,

Computer has ran without a hitch for two years.

No sparks from anything. The power supply is a:

What lights are turning on? Regardless though, if some system lights turn on, your PSU is still supplying power. The issue might still lie with the PSU but lights turning on means that it isn't necessarily 'blown'. Please let us know which PSU it is; if it is a high quality one, odds are even less that it blew.

Looks like I misunderstood. The power supply in question is a good one but that's strange symptoms you've got there but even if it is a good unit, any electronics can fail.
