hi all

i have just recived my new QX9650 and i have put the proc in my rig but im experiencing really high temps i think ? i running a striker extream mobo with a bi water 735 water cooling system but my cpu temps are as follows

core 1 51

core 2 57

core 3 44

core 4 57

this is with 0 load is this normal ? oh and my vid is 1.2500v

According to what program? CoreTemp does not read 45nm cores correctly.

Although, regardless with 0 load there should not be that difference between cores. 3 degrees at most.

If you got those temps with RealTemp, yeah you are in trouble.

hi guys i used coretemp i have reseated my water block about 3 times and used different heat sink fluid how can i test if my water cooler is working 🙁

You need to see if you have water flow first then use realtemp

I dont and never used water cooling but two things come to mind 1. did or do you use thermal paste? 2. could there be a chance that you have a air pocket?

ok i have ripped out the water cooler cleaned it all and put new thermal fluid and antifreeze and made sure all air pockets are gone my temps are now

core 1 =39
core 2 =32
core 3 = 47
core 4 = 34

what you guys think now ?

core 2 =35
core 3 = 50
core 4 =38

Did you check?

ok on full load

core 1 = 53
core 2 = 49
core 3 =60
core 4 = 48

if these are normal how do i over clock this baby my full system spc is as follows

QX9650 @ 3.00ghz
4gb OCZ Reaper X
Asus Striker Extream flashed to latest bios
2 x ASUS 8800 GTX SLI
OCZ 1100 PSU
Coolermaster Stacker 832
4 x Raptor X 73gb Disks Raid 0
Asus PhysX Card
Bigwater 735 CPU Cooler

You have up to a 16 degree difference in core temps at idle, and 12 at full load. That is not normal or desirable.

What type of thermal paste are you using, and how much?

Are you using a water block designed for quad cores?
