[SOLVED] I think I need a better CPU

I'm new to pc building and parts. I have a i5 2500 and a GTX 1050 to 6gb installed on my PC. Whenever I play games I usually get huge lag spikes and the game just crashes. I decided to open task manager to see what the problem was. It shows my CPU using 100% of it's power and GPU using 60. If I want more performance should I upgrade my CPU. If so what is good for a 1155 socket motherboard the is relatively cheap and will give me a big boost in performance?

If your games are crashing then it would be something else. What power supply are you using with this system?

you can expect a quad core/quad thread i5 from 2010 to stay pretty busy in task manager...

Might as well call 100% usage the 'new normal' in gaming for that CPU..

The crashing , however...

(There are no 6 GB GTX1050 models...do you have a GTX1060 perhaps?)

I was thinking he meant 6GB of system RAM. That could present a reduction in performance in some newer games. You really need 8GB or more.
