The "potential winner" is simply because you have to do the verification form.
Your email was selected, but they then have to confirm that you actually live in a qualifying country, and are in compliance with the rules of the giveaway.

Many "potential winners" could have invalid entries, meaning they did not win. If your verification form clears, then you are no longer a potential winner, you move forward with it.
