Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400 16 GB (1x16)
I wanted to put my specs in on my profile but it wouldn't let me for some reason.
I was doing some overclocking on my new rig that I just got. The cooler couldn't keep up with it at 4GHz 1.4V. I mean I think it's got the cooling power but it just didn't spin up quickly enough on smart fan mode to deal with the sudden spike on cinethingy's rendering test. I rolled it back to 3975 and reduced the voltage to 1.375 and Windows failed to boot, so I reset the system and now it's just not POSTing. I tried resetting the BIOS using both the battery and jumper methods but no luck. I tried moving the RAM into another slot, unplugging all the disk drives, taking out all the USB devices etc but nothing has worked. I put the PSU and graphics card back in my old rig to see if they had failed, but they're both fine.
I'm assuming it's the motherboard that's gone because the EZ diagnostic LEDs come on for a short period of time, then turn off again. So I'm guessing if it was the CPU or RAM that was the problem and the moboard was fine, the corresponding LED would just stay lit. Having said that, they do stay lit up when the CMOS reset jumper is plugged in. Another thing is it's supposed to have a load of fancy light up bits around the place, but none of these lights are coming on. So I'm thinking it's the motherboard. Is there any way I can test to see for sure if it is or do I just have to chance it?
