I was building my new PC with the specs below, all brand new parts, when the build is complete I try to boot it, the motherboard shows Errors 55 and FE which I googled has to do something with RAM. So I tried inserting two pieces of old RAM, and the moment I insert the old RAM into the motherboard it just dies. It won't boot or show any sign of life. I've read the "read this thread before posting about motherboard" topics, and googled a bunch of issues and its still dead.
Here's a few examples of what I have done to try fix it
- Resetting CMOS
- Reinstalling CMOS Battery
- Tested each and both RAM slots with both old and new RAM
- Tried using CPU Fan instead of water cooler fan
- I stand alone tested the PSU and it works.
- CPU pins got bent. I bent them back as good as I could, still not working
- There is no damage on CPU
- There is no damage on RAM pins
I tried to return the motherboard, saying it was broken. They took a look and said the CPU pins are bent. I bent them back but it doesn't help.
Is it possible a motherboard can instantly die when plugging in old RAM?
