I have one and had the same problem, the cards fan is in slow motion, used rivatuner to bump it to 60% and bingo, the card never gets over 55C

You can still use Ntune to get the temperature of you card and to adjust the fan speed. I set my 8800GT fan to 80% (at this level it's about as loud as all my other fans) and the card idles at 50C and gets around 67C after extended periods of UT3.

well considering i just tried to install it lol, and it said i need a nforce mobo and installation will now be aborted.. because i dont have one

ok rivatuner wont let me change my fan speed.. i cant even get to the area where im supposed to edit any settings.. i think it may have to do with my driver.. currently i have 169.21 and it doesnt seem to be compatible

Not sure why it won't install for you - I've got it installed on a P35 based Gigabyte board and it works fine. It integrates with the Nvidia control panel and is not a seperate utility (although it is a seperate download).

yea thats the problem though.. that option doesnt even appear in riva tuner for me... like the little picture of the graphics card doesnt show up, or the option with the little microscope.

I was able to set up a Riva Tuner profile for my bro's 8800GT no problemo, with the latest nVidia drivers. FYI, I highly suggest you try to get Riva working. The aforementioned GT is in a micro ATX, and it has never gotten above 69*C running the latest games at max maxies...with a custom profile, of course.

And why the crap are you fingering your components? 160*F is normal operating temp for these things...use Riva or some other software program to determine your temps, not your finger. You wouldn't want baked flesh on that sweet new card, would you?

hi bro, i got the asus 8800gts 512 also

im using smart doctor to handle my cooling.. what setting do you have yours at?

mine is slow 54c, medium 60c, fast 70c, fastest 85c

i estimated that slow = 22% speed, medium = 40%, fast = 56% and fastest = 71% (1% = 20rpm estimate)

mine idles at 55c using medium setting on a overcast/rainy day..

im worried about killing my fan with high settings
