Hey Internet,

I have a laptop, with an Intel Core i5-6300HQ processor. It is meant to have 2.3 GHz, with a turbo boosted of 3.2 GHz, but it runs suspiciously slowly and when I go into the Task Manager, it says my maximum speed is 2.3 GHz, not 3.2. I've tried going into the BIOS but there doesn't seem to be any CPU options there.

Can anyone help?

If you're running a Windows laptop, your CPU won't boost to 3.2 until you either A) change the power settings or b) put it to high performance mode. Windows laptops are not meant to turbo boost unless you specifically tell it to via power management, and make sure that you have adequate cooling and charge left on the laptop when you do. It can eat through your battery pretty quickly.

It is already on high performance mode, and plugged in. Also in the task manager it says the CPU speed is 2.28 GHz, which is less than it was supposed to run at. Any thoughts?
