So I’m sitting there doing work related to my dissertation and I hear this really loud crack that makes me stop and ask what was that. So I just keep working and not too long later I hear it again. I finished up what I was doing and did an inspection of the machine. I didn’t find anything wrong. The noise sounded like the noise my heating makes at night when I’m trying to sleep, but the heating’s been on for a while and wasn’t making a peep. Maybe it was the water bottle I had in the room at the time. What could this be? It’s never done this before (it did replace another MacBook Pro that liked to make noise).

I need this thing alive until at least my course finishes

Solution
It’s possible you have a program or website running that is using your computer’s speakers. As long as the temperature of and around your computer is normal, the only thing that should be making a noise is your speakers. It is also possible that some other object in your vicinity is also the culprit. As long as your laptop looks and sounds fine, I personally wouldn’t worry about it.

Hope this helps
