I think my memory isn't in dual channel, how do I fix it?

Well, this is my first rig, and i think that the ram is running in single channel
I have 2 sticks of 2gb ram and after running cpuz, it says single channel, so yea, i guess it is in single.
I have a gigabyte EP45-UD3R, and I can't figure out where to stick the ram to run it in dual channel.
Also, since I am a total n00b at this stuff, is there really a big difference in the different types of channels?

Thanks

As shortstuff said you need the sticks to be in the same colored slots for dual channel mode to work. (colors usually alternate so your sticks will have an empty slot between them)
