I have an older PC, about 7 years old now that the kids mainly use for games. It has an i5-2500 processor, 8 gb ram, and a 750 watt power supply. The motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3 that supports PCI express 2.0 and is running Windows 7. . It had a GTX 560 ti PCI express graphics card, but last night the computer glitched out. My kid was playing a game, when the computer suddenly shut off. When we tried to restart it, as soon as the computer came on, there were artifacts everywhere. Just lines of colored pixels scattered all over the screen. Windows would never boot up - I would get the blue screen of death. I removed the graphics card, and hooked the computer up via the integrated graphics on the motherboard and now everything seems ok. So I'm assuming the graphics card is fried and I need a new one.
At some point, I plan on getting rid of that computer and building a new one, but I need a replacement now. So can you help me find a graphics card that will work with that older system, but also one that will still be pretty good when I rebuild with a newer and better motherboard and CPU? I was thinking maybe a GTX 1050 ti, but I wasn't sure if that would work in this old PC running Windows 7.
