That seems like an awful lot of money for what you got. It's also kind of strange to put that massive CPU cooler on a CPU that you don't want to OC. And that cooler is massive. It's going to cover most of your MB.

How about a nice Corsair H100?

As long as it cools my system where it doesn't burn anything inside my tower. I'm A' ok!

As for the PSU, is it ok to get the 950W for now because I'm going to be getting myself a GTX 580 and then later on I'll get the same one.

Also I am still not sure what motherboard to pick. I would want one with two 2.0 X 16 slots that can run in 16X16 for my graphic cards.

Thank you for your reply.

I mean, two GPUs plus a stock cooler in a decent case will stay cool enough. It's up to you as to how much cooling you want.

I agree that the Silver Arrow might be a bit too big. My Cooler Master Hyper 212+ covered up RAM slot 1 when it had a second fan attached.

I'd recommend the PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 950W. It's OEMed by Seasonic and is cheaper and on sale: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703028&Tpk=pc%20power%20and%20cooling%20950w

As for hard drives, the Samsung F3 1TB is faster and cheaper than the WD Blacks. There's no real reason not to get it.

Your games won't suffer if they run at x16/x8 or x8/x8 - the performance difference is extremely small. Also, 2x580s will crush any modern game at 1920x1080...

For a single 1080p monitor, a GTX 580 is more than enough, SLI is overkill. Maybe you can get a GTX 570 instead and add one later if you really need it. For the tower, if it's the interior space and cable management you want, then the Corsair 600T might be an alternative; they say it's a medium tower but it's about as big as the HAF X.

For the cooler, I like Xigmatek SDT-1283 because they offer a nice cooler/noise ratio, but you will need to add the appropriate 10$ mounting brackets for your CPU socket; for the SDT-1283, I think it's this one. The nice thing about this cooler is if you upgrade again to a new socket MB, you probably just have to change the 10$ bracket (that's what I did when I moved from LGA775 to LGA1155).

With this budget you should definitely have a 120GB or larger SSD. Its not the same without a SSD, I promise. Coolermaster Hyper 212 is a hard CPU cooler to beat. A Nvidia 570 or AMD 6950 video card will rock that single monitor. A good 750 watt PSU "Corsair, etc" is all you need, even if using GTX 580. Burning extra coal beyond that.

These are the socket 1155 boards (Sandy Bridge) that I know of that run dual cards @ x16 & x16. There may be more, but I know these ones do. NF200 Bridge ftw.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it all gets funneled down to 16 lanes in the end. The PCI-E slots are just able to communicate between themselves and the NF200 controller at that rate, but the data link to the system is still the same. The way I understand it, the NF200 really just helps 3 or more cards make the most efficient use of those 16 lanes.

You are correct, and I just learned something. I wasn't sure myself so I googled it to read up on it more.

http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=120725&mpage=1 <---- this had a good read on it.

I guess I didn't reply about the motherboard that Proximon gave me. Some of the choices is on the motherboard which I was thinking about. :pfff:

But anyways, I have been told that two GTX 580's is overkill because of the one monitor I'm going to buy. The reason why I want to go "overkill" is because I want the graphics to outlive future graphic cards combined (for a very long time.) I mean, is buying two GTX 580's going to last me? Maybe I'm wrong or right but if I'm wrong, please advise me on this then.

As for the Cooler, I am very confused on what you guys are saying remember, I am still a noob at this. Which should I go?

When you say Proximon, "If you insist on a Sandy Bridge processor (why wouldn't you) then you are going to get X8/x8 PCI-E lanes." What do you mean by Sand Bridge processor? And if I was just to get PCI-E lanes X16/X16 what would be the accurate difference to a X8/X8 lanes.

And also thanks for the replys and please remember, I do not know ANYTHING. You guys make it seem I know everything of this stuff but I don't. Just explain to me. Thank you.

Also some of the items I have on my "wish list" are still debatable on which to pick: only not the CPU and Graphics Card will i not change.

P.S: If I really want to OC my components for this build I would, but the daunting image of short-circuiting any of this these parts frightens me. I would like to OC but it is my first time.

Sandy Bridge means, in brief, the newest Intel processors and motherboards. There is a thing called the PCI-E bridge, and that is like a channel that all your graphics data has to travel through. In the newest Intel CPUs, that PCI-E bridge is built-in to the actual CPU.

Think of this "bridge" just like a road bridge. It has lanes. 16 of them, and that's all. Built in to the CPU.

Now, you are wanting a board with more lanes, and so we were discussing exactly what that means... remember, the CPU only has 16. Can't be changed just by buying a different board. BUT, there are boards with 32 lanes.... how is that possible and what does it really mean to you? It's a bit like a 8-lane highway that becaomes a 4-lane highway isn't it? we all know where the bottleneck will be... but until the trafic gets there the 8-lane highway WILL be better. There's your explanation, but: Not really important.

Because it's true, one GTX 580 is quite a lot of power. By the time that GPU starts to seem like not enough, there will be a new GPU out that will be so powerful that it would be better to own THAT than two GTX 580s... and it will not cost any more.

So you SHOULD go that route and not worry about having a huge PSU or a "32 lane" motherboard. But I have long since given up on that argument and don't normally bring it up. After all, I just want you to be happy. If spending $2K will make you happier, I'm actually truly all for it.

Well, there you have it. Too much tequila. Let me know if any of that was not clear enough, I'm off to bed.

TOTAL: $1,737

P.S: I really don't mind if the total is this low and as for the build, what else would I be missing: sound card, wireless card?

Another P.S: What would be a NF200, and which RAM should I get for a gaming rig.

The most cost effective RAM is between 1333-1866 MHz . Below that you'll see some slow down, and above that you won't see many/any differences. Cas Latency really only makes a difference if you OC; my CL8 RAM and my CL9 RAM perform almost exactly the same.

The NF200 essentially gives you more PCI-E x16 lanes. It's generally used on the boards that support 3-4 graphics cards.

You probably won't need a sound card - onboard sound is pretty good unless you're using some really high quality equipment. That said, if you have some sort of surround sound setup/headphones, it can make a difference. My HT Omega Striker amplifies my Roccat Kave headphones a lot better than the onboard sound; the drawback is that the drivers are a pain sometimes, and I don't get all the sound channels in some games. In hind sight, I would have gone with a Creative-based card.

Wireless is all up to you. If you're going to use it, then you'll need one. My Asus and TrendNet cards never had any issues and the drivers were pretty trouble-free.

I'll look into that thanks.

As for the other items I have posted, would anybody want to recommend anything else that I should get that is better, or something that I really don't need? The case I picked was because it has been reviewed the most and used by gamers with good feedback. Would anybody want to say anything else of what they have or other parts that are really good to use? Thanks.

I might switch back to wired once I get some more online games/more time. That said, I have a 300 Mbps card.

Thanks for the reply Why_Me, the RAM and especially the Tower is awesome. Would the tower be better than the HAF 942? And also, would I need another CPU Cooler fan if I have Corsair H100? Thanks!

If I'm going to do SLI would I really need ATX "Full" Tower than the ATX "Mid" Tower?

You stated you didn't plan on over clocking, so a nice small cpu cooler will keep that cpu cool and quiet. If you do plan on o/c then I would go with the new Cooler Master 612 due out next week.

As far as mid tower vs full tower.... There's some Corsair mid towers, and Cooler Master mid towers that are larger than a lot of manufactures full towers. Look at the size/specs.

That Corsair case I posted is due out the end of next week and has excellent cooling and size. I'm guessing it will go up in price after it's been on the market for a month or two.

I would like to OC but I'm afraid of frying my components. I see it difficult for myself since this is my first time ever doing it.

I really don't find it necessary at times, but still not sure if I really want to risk it.

As for the case, in your preference would you buy the HAF 942 or get the Corsair case? Because I imagine ATX Full Towers to house 3 beasty graphics card with LC in the tower where many things can be running inside, but what I am going to install is just the wish list of what I have put up top with just two graphic cards.

If I were to put everything that I have on my "wish list" am I still going to have a lot of room, and if I was to put my "wish list" in the ATX Mid Tower will it be too compressed where it will not have any room?

Thanks again!
