I recently posted that I thought my watercooler died but I thought it was just the fan. The whole thing must be dead though because after replacing it, I am still getting almost instant shutdowns after turning it on.

I have two options, replace the watercooling for $50 or get a new process for $85 (fx-4350). I can't do both, so my question is. If I get a new process will the stock fan be good enough to keep it cool?

Solution
i think it depends on whether or not you want o upgrade your cpu. if yes, get one and it will come with a stock cooler. if you don't, you could get a new liquid cooler, like you said.

also, does it shut down immediately after you turn it on? do you even get a chance to use it?
how sure are you it's overheating? What kind of temperatures are you experiencing?
if you get a new processor, at stock speeds, the fan will work, although a bit noisy. if you're going to overclock, always get an aftermarket cooler.

I didn't have any plans to overclock. When I turn my PC back on it tells me the CPU has overheated and then shuts itself back off. I am still not 100% its the watercooler but I don't know what else it could be.

No, I bought it prebuild through ibuypower 5ish years ago. Not something I would do again but it did come with a free watercooler upgrade. So all I have left is trial and error.

I don't have plans to overclock and I don't mind abit of noise for the time being if that is what is really wrong.

The first time I turn it on it works for about 5 minutes. Then it just shuts down, no message. When I turn it on after that I get a message from the motherboard and at the bottom it says the CPU has overheated and to press F1 to go to the menu. It will shut down before getting to the menu though.

Speedfan will say my CPU is fine but that my GPU is at around 90c. I am not sure which to believe, the motherboard message or Speedfan.

sorry for the late reply,
did you try to physically touch the gpu and cpu cooler to see if it's hot?
also, try reapplying the thermal paste. remember to use only a little
did you get any thermal paste on your cpu pins?
