I used a USB drive on m last computer and it had a virus.

Hello,

I was using my usb drive on my last computer that was succumb to the explorer.exe virus a little while ago and I was wondering, since my computer caught the virus, did my usb catch it too? I haven't used it since and have only used it to transfer pics from my desktop to my laptop and for readyboost. Can I format it without catching the virus? It is a sandisk 16GB and the OS I am using is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Best solution: plug USB stick in a computer running Linux, like Ubuntu, and reformat the stick. Do not use Quick Format.

Don't have Ubuntu? Download it and burn a bootable CD. You can run Ubuntu from the CD without installing it.

Did u try to scan your os and the drive using antivirus/malware ?
most anti virus/malware now is quite good in removing those unwanted pest..

Well, the os broke down after the virus made me unable to open applications in normal and safe mode. It eventually corrupted windows explorer all the way and deleted it. I'll try electronau's advice.
