Hello - sorry to post a somewhat noobish question... I used to know RAM and builds and parts very well in the early 2000s, and then i got lazy and had a rig custom built for me 5 years ago for gaming and what not. I dont game much at all anymore... Want to upgrade the system, which runs flawlessly, now that I have Win 7, to have more RAM and be a little quicker all around.

Specs:

  • MoBo: Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3P Rev 1.1 (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3014&dl=)

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHZ

    Current RAM : OCZ Reaper Series PC3 14400 (PN OCZ3RPR18004GK) (8-8-8 @ 1.9v) - 2 x 2GB

    GFX Card: GeForce GTX 280

I have NO idea what RAM to get to get me up to 8GB. Gigabyte site says up to DDR3 2200. I cant find 1.9V RAM on newegg. I cant fin this exact PN for sale anywhere anymore (except used). Also cant seem to find 1.9V RAM either. Can someone reco a good, solid, not too expensive (around $80-100) 8GB setup for me to replace the existing OCZ RAM?

Thanks!

good question - ill check and post back. i think it is. are you thinking thats what i have to do and the 4GB max thing is not true? i cant find anything anywhere in gigabytes site or others that say it CANT support 2x4GB

cpu-z tells me 333Mhz FSB. I tried to change it with the old mem still installed and it wont go to FSB 400MHz, even though I THINK I set it that way in the BIOS . I would love some help (i am an old noob...this stuff used to make sense, and then i stopped tinkering, and you know how that goes...)

Thanks for help...

If you still looking for solution for your memory incompatibility issue you must look for this memory kit :CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 but be carefull only Ver. 2.12 will work on your motherboard.
