I used WD-40 for ALL the pc fans... Am I screwed?

So... The title tells the whole story. Except for the fact that I done extensive research AFTER I done the deed.

I know it will not last long (right?), but can I just get some other oil, and put it over the WD-40 right away? I might have overdone it too, a small burst kinda fills the hole...
I feel like such an idiot

I have been looking all over the house for something more consistent to use, but had no luck.
And I'm not sure what to buy.

My specs are irrelevant I think, but I can provide.

Nothing is leaking... Yet. Not sure for how long

hope not that's what I used for years in mine when they get noisy ? just blow out and wipe off all excess ? a quick short squirt and spin with figure then I blow it out with [you can use caned air ] compressor wipe all I can dry with paper towel

matter of fact I got a fan going to get some today

just to add I thought next time I need to buy some I would give that wd dry lube a try ??

aint like a 80mm case fan is only 8 bucks for a 4 pak if that much ??

I gues you could use 3 in 1 oil I use it as well

The fans are 2 years old, and I like to conserve stuff, not just buy brand new when something's wrong. I don't want to buy new fans every other year.

I read the WD-40 dissipates quickly, so I'll just apply the 3 in 1 if it goes noisy again.

Good thing is, I got a lot of dust from the fans with the clean-up, and temps are down by 1 or 2 C, so it wasn't bad at all.

Read about WD-40 corroding plastic, that's why I was worried.

lol,,, I'm a cheap skate and will do or try anything to make it last ... to me if it works, great. if not oh well

I'm so cheap I use pull out fans from like old junk hp cases to use but I oil them if getting rough , why not may last weeks may last for ever ?

all I can do is get all I can before I got to spend then all that mail ordering over a 2 buck fan ??

just a shame they mount the fan blades on to where you easily damage the whole fan to try to service them so I just squirt some wd in the best I can spin it with my finger to help work the lube in blow out the excess and wipe dry the best I can put it back in the case until the next time I got to do it ???

funny thing was I fired up today and one was noisy rough sounding and was going to pull it out and give it a squirt when I shut down to go watch football

well back from the shop blew out all dust removed the fan and noticed I did not see my wd handy wife may of got it for her use on something ? so I grabbed a open qt of dexron 2 ATF I had on the shelve and used that . fans are now back to quite as a mouse . dang sure did not realize how noisy thing were from that fan ,like having a new computer [noise wise ]

so looks like automatic transmission fluid works well as well ... now wish I did my cpu fan for fun along with the case fans [lol]
