If you have Windows I recommend Kaspersky free or Bitdefender free. For second opinion scans I use Malwarebytes and ADW cleaner.

Even WIndows 7 is a proverbial slug with only 2 GB of RAM....

I'd be hesitant to add any other apps on top of it, probably sticking with whatever MS called Defender back then...

No need to scan with Malwarebytes and ADW , Malwarebytes includes ADW detection signatures , as it's now owned by them.

I have read and tested it and it appears as they do have different signatures. But that was half a year ago. It may have changed without my knowledge.

Panda Antivirus free, just make sure during the installation you uncheck the search toolbars and whatnot., It is very light and has a good rating when it comes to virus detection. Watch out for all the ads pushing other products , you can turn it off in the settings.
