I have a Toshiba laptop, Satellite L55-C5392 with 8G of DDR3L 1600MHz ram and I would like to increase the ram however the spec. sheet says that it isn't user upgradeable, upon opening the bottom of the case the ram is clearly removable is the ram upgradeable?

I see that the max is 16gb in 2 8gb sticks. Crucial is reliable so I would trust this. Anything listed here should work.

You can buy the same 8gb 1600 stick listed on crucial's site here for $30. I'd buy 2 of the 8gb sticks for a total of 16gb, the max the mobo can take.
If you want a better way to increase performance, I would try to get an SSD, preferably in 240gb or higher capacity. This will make your boot time as much as 3-4 times as fast, since the laptop probably has a 5400rpm HDD.

shows max RAM as 16GB.

the laptop manual https://support.toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?contentId=4008590&isFromTOCLink=false states:
Memory 8GB DDR3L1600MHz (not user upgradeable)

idk why they state that as its a blatant lie.

long as you have a 2nd RAM slot you could add another 8GB.

(if only 1 ram slot then you cant as 8gb is largest single size available to that type iirc though as thast a physical limitation)
