[SOLVED] I want to add RX580 in my system which has a CORSAIR VS550 with Ryzen 2400g. Is the power supply good

So I have heard that 580 is power hungry. And of I am under powered then please suggest me any other graphics card as I don't want to change my PSU anytime soon.

The VS series PSU isn't very good but at 550 you should be fine. You may want to consider upgrading your PSU down the line to something like a Corsair CX or CXM on the more budget end or Seasonic FOCUS Gold or EVGA G3 on the higher end.

550w itself in terms of wattage is enough for an RX 580.

But as previously stated, that PSU is very low quality which simply means that worst case scenario it dies when put under load at some point and ends up taking other hardware with it.

So do try to upgrade the PSU to something a bit higher quality as soon as possible

do upgrade your PSU. My friend got his Rx 580 toasted up due to the PSU(same VS550). From india bro. It is really bad psu even if you take 750w, it will die for sure. Sell you current psu or keep it as backup and go fo CX series .

Do not use the CX nor the VS series, both are bad.
CX already killed a graphic card of mine, and i never trusted corsair after that.
I would suggest a 650 G2 supernova EVGA better than all of that with 7 year warranty instead.
And a budget one is a 1060 or 1660TI.

despite what iMatty said, the new 2017 models of the CX line is not bad and actually recommended for budget builders because they fixed all the problems the original ones had.

to be honest, just using that PSU with your current hardware is a risk every time you boot up your machine.

so it's up to you if you want to buy the card now and take the gamble that it'll hold out long enough for you to save up and get a better PSU, or to get a better PSU and then wait and save up the amount you spent on the new PSU to then be able to get the GPU.

If you can afford that M12II for 7k, then you can just get the S12III for 6100 instead that I linked.
You'll get just as good build quality but more wattage.

The S12III is newer btw.
