Question I want to buy a 8GB stick of ram but I'm not sure what's compatible. I've looked for my brand but can't find the right speed ?

I'm looking to add another 8GB stick to Windows 11 64-bit but im not sure which one would work well with my current RAM and mobo which I will link below:

Ive spent the last three days looking over tons of ram. Speed, Timing, Brand, Volts, etc...
Ive heard mixing and matching different types of ram can burn the socket and damage the mobo
and im tryin to avoid that as its new.

If anyone has any recommendation's Id appreciate them!!

it's a bad idea to put RAM sticks that aren't identical. even if they are identical, since they weren't purchased together as a kit, they may not work. while you could be lucky and you get it to work, you could encounter issues with performance and/or crashes.

edit: to Increase your chances of success, go for the same brand stick, with the same model and also same chip. (the memory chip that's in those sticks).

your existing RAM is clocked at 3200MHz. this means your new sticks (4266MHz) will be downclocked to 3200MHz. It'll be a waste. Instead you could save a couple bucks if you go with matching (or similar) 3200MHz RAM.

The CAS Latency is also different, although it should still reduce it automatically (if not you can manually) to the stick with the lower latency to get things going properly.

As I said before, it theoretically should work on paper, but when you try it out, that's when the real outcome shines.

I guess I should have been more specific which is my fault. Its been a busy week. I wasn't gonna buy one stick of that Kingston fury 16gb ram at 4266mhz. I was gonna buy both for a total of 32 and just replace the existing 8gb. I wouldn't mix them because it would ruin my mobo from what I've heard. And I was gonna put 32gb in just for future proofing. Games are only gonna get bigger and need more ram. I might do a little streaming at some point to. My specs:

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13400F 2.50 GHz
8gb DDR4 SDRAM 3200mhz
MSI RTX 4060 Ventus 2X Black OC
Phison Electronics PS5015 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD 1TB
Windows 11 64B

I mean I don't need 32gb I was just thinkin about the future. Like one and done. I have all the ram Id need todo anything I wanted. Play games, Stream if I wanted, etc

Consider shopping for a 2x16GB kit @ 3200 cl16.......save a buck

Intel does not depend on fast ram for performance.
Buy a 2 stick kit of 16 or 32gb.
If you multitask while gaming, you should opt for 32gb. Keep the old ram as a spare.
I read that some game now requires more than 16gb.

Games are getting crazy right? I was considering 32gb (two 16gb sticks) with this new pc but I was also taking into account frequencies and timing. Any recommendations would be appreciated as I don't wanna burn my slots =) Im still looking around and weighing my options. I love games and play quite a few. I feel like games will need more ram in a few years to play smoothly. Hell the newer games like helldivers 2 have a recommended requirement of 16gb of ram. And minimum requirements for starfield is 16gb.... When I bought this pc I considered a i7 but thought a i5 should be enough for everything I want to play since Ive never played 4k on my PC (Only on console) So I cant miss what ive never seen. At least on pc anyway. (This 4060 cant handle 4k. And even though its OC im not gonna overclock it just for maybe ten extra frames and have it die in a year or less. OC doesn't seem worth it to me. Ive run some benchmarking programs at 1080p with max options and it stays consistent at 60fps)
