You are trying to convert a DIGITAL HDMI to an analog VGA, this is not possible unless you have an ACTIVE CONVERTER.

My cable consists of an hdmi end and a vga end that fits on the back of my
Led monitor

Like I said, that will not work unless its an actual converter. If the monitor has an HDMI or DVI connector, use that instead.
