I want to buy a SSD but I don't want to have to format my old HD. The old HD has windows 7 on it. I was wondering can I unistall the old HD and install windows and drivers on the SSD and turn it off then plug the old HD back in and use it as a secondary HD? Or will it conflict with the boot of the SSD?

My laptop has a ssd and HDD in it tho and it runs fine

So I won't have to delete the old operating system or is that part of the process? Will I be able to access the files as if it was an slave hard drive?

I myself just got and installed a new SSD (Samsung Evo 120Gb) and I cloned all my data from the hard drive to the ssd and then formatted the hard drive. If you wanted to keep your data on the HDD you could just move the data from the SSD you cloned from the Hard Drive back to it again and still have the data on your old hard drive.
