I want to get into PC gaming...will this do the trick?

Okay so i'm going to level with you- I am a newbie at PC's. I've took it at A-level and has sparked my interest for PC gaming. Trouble is the laptop I have now only has 2GB of RAM and the graphics card is ancient so I want to upgrade
Would this PC be good for running most/all games on high-end settings?

You can do better.

Honestly, what i would do is build your own. Pre built is something you kind of want to stay away from mainly because of the quality of parts they use. You can bet they have a crap PSU in that system (as is the norm)

Post what your Max budget is, Resolution you want to play at, Games your looking to play on what settings, and the people of Toms will put together builds for you and help you out. Building a pc is easy and everyone here is good about helping out.

That PC is on the very low end of gaming PC's. It will have issues running the most modern games on decent settings. Both the CPU and GPU really aren't up to the task, more so the GPU. Do you have a budget you are working with?

I think that my budget is about £800 max. The main thing that attracted me to this computer was the price anyways
and as for games that I would play would probably be high demanding ones such battlefield etc and I would like to play them on high settings but I can understand I might not be able to do that on my budget. I would also like to record gameplay as well but the ones that I would play all the time are trouble in terrorist town, payday: the heist which don't seem too resource demanding but it's always nice to have extra power when needed

I have no clue what 800 lira is American but here's a build that should fit what you want to do nicely for $930 without the case because cases are personal preference so i left it out.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rlUV <-- this is for max settings at 1920x1080 resolution, if using a lower resolution you could pull max settings with a much lower GPU saving a lot of money. I also put the non-OCable version of the i5, since i didnt think you would be overclocking.

Right so to summarize (I'm terrible at making choices haha) which one of these rigs would be the best link out of the two? I would prefer a pre-built one but I have no idea what I am doing on the cyberpower link (Like I said I'm a newbie sorry 😛 )

At the end of selecting the component it gives you a summary. You can always past that in here and let us take a look at it before you buy. I think you can also email the link to yourself and past it on here for us to see. My selections above will get you a system worthy of gaming. If you have some more money to throw at it, you could upgrade the video to a GTX660Ti or GTX670.

Alot of the prebuilds you buy off of Amazon and such never have good combinations of components.

8Gb of 1600mhz. Gaming only needs about 4GB for the majority of games, 8 is a bit overkill and "future proof" If you will. You want the 1600 mhz (faster).

More ram would be useful in cases of like lots of video editing etc.

*edit* Just as an FYI. If it fits your budget i would HIGHLY recommend going with a build your own build like MotherJones posted above. Hes got an ssd, good cpu etc in the build. If not just make sure to post your pre-built build here before buying so we can help make sure your good to go.

8GB is all that is needed for gaming right now. If you video or photo edit large files it might be useful for 16GB. 1600 may be a little faster for you, but probably not noticeable.

thanks very much you two I think I will go with the pre build and I do a bit of video editing but if 8 GB is not enough (which I think would be plenty) I could always upgrade in the future.
