[SOLVED] I want to increase my fps. Do I need to upgrade my gpu or cpu or both?

Currently playing destiny 2 and I would like to achieve about 140fps. My screen is

Well from what I have read a 1080 is needed for 60 FPS on yours screen's native resolution, so if you want to get anywhere near double that, you need to buy the fastest 2080 ti you can find along with the fastest i7 available.

Upgrade your processor first and give it a go...the 1080 still has decent legs and will get a nice boost from a fast CPU like the Intel 9900k or a Ryzen 3700x when paired with some fast memory and an SSD.

you can reduce the quality settings or even the resolution to simulate having a faster GPU before you spend an obscene amount of money on something that might not even be the cause of the issue.
The 8400 only hits 4Ghz and less if all cores are working and you do need all the Ghz you can get to get as high a FPS as possible.
