Hi there!
I'm getting a new ssd to run the operating system and a new hdd for the rest.
Currently I'm working with an old hdd in my computer, which runs the os and all the software.

I know I should plug the ssd with win 10 on the sata 1 port. The question is: is there something I need to do to the sata 2 port before plugging the hdd?

Solution
The SATA ports you choose are generally unimportant, what you need to consider is the boot order in the BIOS.
Go ahead and install windows on the SSD with only the SSD plugged in, once that is done feel free to connect the HDD and then select the SSD as the boot drive in the BIOS.
