I want to make partions of hard disk

Hello,
I have a 1 tb hard disk. I want to know can I make partions like this, C:80 gb, D:400 gb, E:480 gb. Or If you recommended anything else for safety of my hard disk.
Please help.

you can do that, you could make 20 50 GB partitions if you wanted.
why would you want the os partition to be so small though. that does not leave much room for programs and games. there is really no point in partitionioning if you are not going to use a different OS for the other partition. IMHO
I would leave the drive as 1 massive volume.

I want to install only one os. So how mush space I need in C drive

all of it.
is there any particular reason you need a D: or an E:?
as for safety the drive is one unit, if it fails all the data on the drive can be lost.
a seperate drive would be needed for backup to ensure safety beyond the quality of the single drive.
