I've used hard drives for computers for a while now but I've been told that they're much faster than hard drives, so I thought about getting one but, I only want to my operating system (windows) and a few programs that I use frequently in there. How do I move my operating system across to a SSD without.. you know.. breaking my computer 😅

Also what size SSD should I get? Or should I get an M.2 SSD?

Thank you in advance.

How do I move my operating system across to a SSD without.. you know.. breaking my computer 😅
Get SSD with size that is larger than amount of used data on your HDD;
Clone HDD to SSD;
Disconnect HDD and boot with SSD alone;
Reconnect HDD, clean it, repartition and reformat it.
Done.

You can lower amount of used data on your HDD by moving it to some other drive - user data (documents, movies, music) and game libraries. Uninstall unnecessary software.
