I want to move my OS to an SSD from my HDD.

As mentioned, I want to move my OS from my HDD to a new SSD.

I use an Intel dh77eb motherboard and a Seagate 2TB HDD. (Will buy a new SSD in a couple of weeks. Do recommend the size and the model which I should buy.)

My current HDD is partitioned. C: (Windows and a few game installs) and G: (Only game installs). Please have a look here.

I will move all my games to G: that's not an issue. But, how do I put my windows 10 pro on a new SSD while keeping the old harddrive for games?

So I want to end up where the Windows is on the SSD and the games are on the HDD. (Without losing any data)

Any help will be highly appreciated. :)

Please let me know if I have not made myself clear anywhere.

Solution
Samsung EVO drives are really good drives and are what everyone compares themselves to so I highly suggest getting one of those.

One extra bennefit is that it comes with samsung data magician software to clone your OS from your HDD to your SSD.

So here is what you need to do.

1) make sure your C drive has less USED space than the size of your SSD, if not then delete and move files as necessary
2) power off computer and install SSD drive
3) Turn pc back on and boot from HDD as normal, run data migration software and transfer to SSD
4) Boot into bios and set SSD as first boot device
5) Once you have booted into OS on SSD you can now delete the old OS partition on your HDD

Thanks a lot man! 😀

Hey man, I would really appreciate if you could also help me with this query :

How should I configure the SSD and HDD in terms of RAID (Or any other standard)?

As mentioned earlier, I want to use my SSD for windows and HDD for games and other data.

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

No RAID at all. Just two individual drives.

For how to manage things between the two, this:
Win 7 & 8: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html
Win 8.1 & 10: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2024314/windows-redirecting-folders-drives.html

Slightly more detailed cloning procedure:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive (Modification for you....deselect the games partition)
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:
