I have an HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j017cl with an intel 4600 graphics card with up to 1792MB total graphics memory and a 2.5GHz 4th generation Intel Core i5-4200M Processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz. You can type "E9G80UA#ABA" into hp.com to find everything out. But I am wanting to optimize my laptop for gaming and I'm not sure how to do this. I don't know if i can get a new graphics card or not. Or maybe theres some software that will dedicate my whole pc to the game while it is playing I just dont know. Right now I'm trying to play sniper elite 3 at the lowest res settings and still getting poor fps. Even sniper elite v2 on lowest settings wasn't that great. If anyone could please help me review my options and cost effectiveness with me that would be greatly appreciated. Oh btw i cannot work on pcs but i may know someone who can replace graphics card if possible for cheap.....

I know how you feel, I was stuck with a not-so-fast laptop for a long time, I will give you a short answer and a long answer.

Short answer: No, your laptop is stuck where it is performance wise

Long answer: all this "optimization software" is for CPU bottlenecks, but it's your graphics card that is holding you back, and there is nothing you can do about that. If you want more frames, turn down resolution slightly, but beware, it will blur your game a lot. Now if you want to game, you can sell your laptop and buy a new one, and I can help you find the absolute best for your money (have done so with several friends). Tag me and add your budget and I will find one for you if you like.
You do not have a graphics card to replace or switch, the Intel HD4600 is integrated with the Core i5-4200M CPU. The best you can do is check out some of the optimization guides for the particular games you're playing but you will find many newer games (notably, AAA titles) unplayable. There are quite a few games you will find that are playable (just not the IMO, really fun ones)
Changing settings like putting your power settings on High Performance, disabling background programs (maybe even your viruscide) and other little tricks like that may help some. There really are no overclocking options for a laptop so that's about it.

thanks alot you guys on here are a great community for not-so-experienced pc users and im surprised how fast you all responded... at any rate im not glad to here that i cannot upgrade 🙁 but i greatly appreciate the advice. And skipoosh i just may get back to you on that if i can free up some cash. also can i get a good offer for my laptop online?

Assuming it's in good condition, yes you will be able to get a great value, personally, I would value that at around $300-400 if its functional and looks new. Add that to whatever you have and send it over to me, I will find you the best deal for a gaming laptop/desktop, whatever you want

what would be a good laptop for $500?
gaming
all these over prices laptops hurt my head

$500 i can work with, although $600 might be the sweet spot, gimmie a minute to see...
