Hi

So Im getting the parts for my new PC and I first said I WILL NOT OVERCLOCK! NOWAY!, but now im thinking maybe I should (a little bit) so here is what I plan to do

Increase the FSB, from 266mhz (which I think is the default) to maybe 280mhz or even 290mhz or 300mhz.

But I want to know first some things...

How many degrees will the temp increase from 266mhz to 280mhz? to 290mhz? to 300mhz? also, am I taking a risk? (I dont think so, since im only increasing less than 40mhz), finally, what would be my speed with default multiplier for 280mhz, 290mhz and 300mhz?

Thanks and hope to see some help :)

The stock (and locked) multipler for the E6600 is 9. Multiply that by the FSB bus speed and thats your CPU speed. 300Mhz * 9 = 2700Mhz or 2.7Ghz. At 333 FSB the E6600 would be ticking over at just under 3Ghz.

Waiting to find out what parts you picked.

Im waiting for the NVIDIA nForce 680i

rumors from Vr-Zone say that this board reached 510mhz in their engineering samples.

I think 300mhz would be great! 2.7Ghz from 2.4Ghz that is the stock, but im worrying about the temperature, what would it be? an estimate?

Im also getting Corsair TWIN1024X2 C4 1Gb RAM PC6400 DDR800
eVGA Geforce 7900 GS w/ HDCP

Stock cooler will handle it no problem, if you want cooler/silent/both you can get an aftermarket cooler for around ~40$

And that was just a sample board hehe the retail version will hit MUCH farther =]
VR-Zone has been great keeping up up to date with the enw chipsets, keep an eye on it

My e6600 runing stock with my p5b deluxe wifi, full load with dual prime 95 running at 75 deg farenheight ambient hits around 49-51 c.

I use a silverstone cooler on the cpu.

Crank the fsb up to 333, hitting around 3 ghz, and speed hits 53-55 c.

All temps using core temp, asus pc probe, and the bios temp.

If I manually crank the cpu fan wide, it drops 2 c, but I hate the noise.

Still, good temps at 3ghz.

TT Tsunami Dream case with front and rear 120 fans, and a side 80.

Well I got the same case so looks like we gonna have almost same kind of temps :)

I dont want it to go too hot, thats why I dont wanna overclock that much.
