I want to Overclock my 5770

That is my graphics card and I have another 5770 that is made by HIS. I am completely new to overclocking and I guess you guys know a lot.

Dont bother overclocking that card is great as it is. Overclocking will only reduce its life and make it hotter and you may go brick it which will make it completely useless. If you are facing frame drops or lagging only then overclock it a little. keep in mind that overclocking that card will only give you 5 to 10 fps boost. are you sure you want to reduce your cards life for 10 fps. What is your system specs? Look i am not saying that you should'nt do it but just first read about it. How much card could handle and whether or not that card is worth overclocking or not.

It's provide great option to overclocking, increasing the clock speed, manually controlling the fan speed to keep the temps low and also providing option to increase voltage (if the card BIOS haven't locked it). I think the best you can go with that card is 950 MHz without tweaking the BIOS.

Only thing is on my ASUS card, it starts blue screening my computer but I haven't tried the HIS card yet.

I have 4GB of RAM and an i3 2100.

Are you getting BSOD (blue screen) when you overclock or just when you are using it for the normal use? If you are getting it when you are overclocking then it is the indication that you should stop. But if you are getting in normal use i suspect the card better try HIS card if you are getting the blue screen in normal use.

I'm not really sure. It happens more often when I overclock but I have just switched to my HIS and the FPS are slightly better and the performance in general.

As said if it happens during overclocking then you are overclocking the card too much if it happens at random than either the card has been effected by the overclocking and likely won't last long. I say keep the Asus card as a backup.

You can OC the 5770 just fine but don't expect that much of a performance increase....

Good for you because BSOD in my experience has always lead to hardware rather then software. It's not like i have seen software BSOD but i have seen hardware too much. It is always better to be prepared.

I have the 6770, which is basically the same card. I've had mine overclocked at 960/1325 and have never had any issues. Results can vary from chip to chip so you have to do testing. As someone else posted, it doesn't give that much of a boost, but if you want to take the time, you should be able to overclock.

To overclock it ,
open AMD CCC ( right click on desktop and click on AMD catalyst control center )
Then click on performance tab in left side, tick mark "enable graphics overdrive" if haven't done already, then raise your gpu clock settings slider to 920 and memory clock settings to 1300 and then click apply
you just overclocked your gpu

you can overclock even further but do it in 5mhz steps only and run furmark for atleast 5 minutes to see if your overclock is stable or not and temperature is less than 80'C during testing
