I want to overclock my Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66GHz but overclocking options are not available in the BIOS Menu. What should I do?

My Computer specs are:
Zebronics 945 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66GHz Processor
Cooler Master Hyper 212x CPU Cooler
2x 2GB DDR2 RAM
Corsair VS550 PSU
nVidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB DDR5 Graphics Card
500 GB Seagate HDD
BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. 080015, 11/7/2013


As you can see my Processor and RAM are bottlenecking my system, so i want to overclock my processor to get a better performance. But i can't find the overclocking options in the BIOS Menu. How can i overclock my processor? Please, help me... 🙁

Those CPUs can overclock and usually have a quite a bit of headroom.

The problem is that I'm pretty sure those Zebronics 945 boards don't support OCing. If there are definitely no OCing options in the BIOS, then that would be a result of the motherboard, not the CPU anyway.

Unfortunately your only option is to see if you can pick up a second hand compatible motherboard. Problem with that is that most versions of Windows (OEM copies) are tied to your motherboard, so replacing that will require a new copy of Windows to stay legal.

Unless someone else comes along with a hail-mary solution for you, I think you're out of luck on the OCing front. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

If my only option is to change my Motherboard, then i should change my RAM and processor with newer ones as well. I am thinking of buying an AMD FX6300 processsor and Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 RAM, which motherboard would be good and compatible with my rig? I have kept my motherboard budget within Rupees 10,000

Sorry, but I'm not that familiar with AMD motherboards, I usually recommend Intel. Though if an i3 solution in your region is out of your budget range, then I agree that a 6300 with a bit of an OC is an adequate solution and a good match for your GTX 960. I wouldn't be OCing both CPU and GPU on your PSU. Don't push an OC hard on an 6300 either, but a bit of an OC shouldn't pose too much of an issue.

If this thread doesn't get the answer you're looking for, you might want to start a new one. Since you're now looking to upgrade the rig rather than OC, you're really asking a new question and thus a new thread makes sense.

Intel processors are way out of my budget range, so I wanna go with AMD. I will make a new thread as u said regarding AMD motherboard. Thanks for ur help, bro, i really appreciate it.

There are ways to overclock a locked Bios computer. If you don't believe me look at the link in my sig. or read my tutorial "Overclocking Dell BTX Computers". The BTX part wont apply to you, but the O/C options will. You really need more RAM. Video cards use RAM addresses from the top down to store textures. Your system is leaving nothing for the CPU to work with. I looked up that board and saw only 2 memory slots. With that old chipset it usually means 4GB RAM limit. You really need 8GB even with 32 bit OS.
I like to max. out old computers but that one looks like a loser.
