I want to overhaul my pc. 16gig ram new cpu ect....

Not sure if I need a new mainboard to accomplish this but I used SiSandra to show you what I have. I want a quad core processor and as much memory as possible. I have built a pc in the past but I am by no means an expert. Guess I would like some input on a new processor and ram. The mainboard now will hold 16gig of ram and according to the mainboard website I can use these processors.:

This motherboard supports only AM3 processors
Memory support is limited to DDR3 modules only.

From what I can surmise the 1st processor in the list is the best but in my search it looks like it is out of stock everywhere. Question is if you had my setup how would you make the most of what I have? I mostly use the pc as a media center running a plex server using chrome cast to cast video to a big screen television. The transcoder seems to bog my system down to where the fans are running non stop. That is why I want to upgrade the entire system.

Not worth it.

Just buy a new pc, that platform is over 6 years old.
