I want to put black bars on my widescreen monitor

my hdmi seems to only do 1920x1080 but my monitor is 2560x1080 and it is stretching.

is there a way to put black bars on the side to stop stretching, or emulate a 21:9 ratio?

Is this a limit of your cable, graphics card or monitor.

I think you should tackle that first.

Can you use display port instead?
