That isn't true at all. OP, you don't mention what exactly your budget is but I'll assume based on what you said, it is very limited. Go on ebay or wherever you can that sells used parts. You can get a core 2 quad CPU for like 30 to 50 dollars that will more than double your processing power. Then, look for something like a gtx 650 ti boost, they sell for like 75ish used and that will increase your gpu power like 10 fold. For a little over 100 this machine can be turned into a very usable, if dated, machine.

Spending just over 150$ on an APU based system will do the same thing AND modernize his system.

That is true, but that is 150 dollars spend on "modernizing" his system and still leaves him without a GPU able to play games on which is what he wants to do. My suggestion costs less money and gets him a system that will play any game on the market, albeit on low settings of course.

Incidentally, the CPU I suggested which he can pick up for less then one third of the chip you suggested (since he won't need to replace the MB) performs almost exactly the same:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/676?vs=89

Obviously he can do both, get the new MB, get the CPU you suggested, and then go and buy a new GPU as well for even more money, but then he would end up doing exactly what he told us he didn't want to do which is essentially upgrading the whole thing.

You forgot to add the cost for ram which i am not 100% sure the ram for my pc would work and that adds around another 50 to 150 dollars to the total, but your suggestion is awsome and thanks for the link to the site. I will use it to rebuild when I have the money to do that.

1 you have plenty of ram 6gb is plenty

2. processor to a quad is a good choice of the 2 Deuce65
