i am having troubles trying to do it. first of all i had 64 bit installed but it crashed one day and the person fixed it put 32 bit on it. i have a 64bit disk for windows 8. i put it in and try to install and i get an error messgae saying it cannot work because my computer is a 32 bit. i went into my bios and set the cd rom to be first and then rebooted it from the cd drive. but it just loads how it normally does and takes me to my desktop. i tried doing a factory reset but it said i was missing files. i know i lose all my data, but at this point i want my computer fixed. i dont know what to do , the internet isnt helping. i rebooted it and checked my bios. my cd is a windows 8 recovery disk for 64 bit, it came with my computer. my disk is new no smudges or anyting. i really need help!

He probably deleted the recovery partition for your windows 8 64-bit, that's why you cannot simply "restore it back"

You have no choice but to find a working ISO setup file for your 64-bit version of windows 8
Burn it to a disk using imgburn
Or burn it to a bootable usb using rufus

Boot from the cd/usb you created with the above steps and proceed with the 64-bit installation
It should automatically select your product key if it was OEM (you bought the pc with windows 8 64-bit)

As the above user said, an iso setup file is a good idea
Find an empty 8gb usb drive. Go to this site where you can downloand the windows 8 iso : http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/download-windows-8-pro/

download the iso, burn the iso with a program called rufus

Set the partition scheme to mbr not gpt, set file system to default, set cluster size to default, check the three boxes as shown, load your iso by pressing the disc icon on the right hand sign. click start. Note that transferring an iso to a usb will delete all previous files on the usb that were on their before.

once that is done, restart your computer and set boot order to usb first. follow the onscreen instructions and choose the exact version of windows 8 that was on your pc before

Follow onscreen instructions. Enter keys, username, etc when needed

i did all these steps. i clicked start and got an error message saying the file system currently selected cannot be used for this type if ISO. please use a different file system or ISO. i downloaded the windows 8 one, did i need to download the windows 8.1 or am i doing something wrong?

so i got it all set. it worked my pc has been fine now but now i have this "Activate Windows Go to pc settings to activate windows" and when i got to the pc settings it sayd error. this has never happened before i had to reset my computer? i dont want to buy windows again. what do i do

i type in Sfc /scannow but it says i must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility

it reads "Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log windir\logs\CBS\CBS.Log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.Log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing sceanaries.

also i can go to PC settings, but when i click on activate windows online, it says error. i tried entering the one listed on the side of my computer and it said i needed to use a different code
