Hello All,

I have Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming 5577 laptop

i5 7'th gen
1tb hdd
8gb ram 2400 (hynix)
NOTE: my laptop support max of 32gb RAM

4gb gtx1050 ddr5 graphic card

Now I want to upgrade RAM as now I want to run vmware workstation in which I want to run multiple vm's and with single 8gb it is not working for me.

I gone through multiple websites, they say ram should be attached equally for good performance like 8+8 or 4+4 or 16+16 config (also something about dual channel or single rank) and ram should be of same brand if using 2 sticks (in my case it will become 8+16=24gb)

I am planning to buy below model
corsair 2666mhz 16gb single stick

Corsair Vengeance Performance Memory Kit 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz CL18 Unbuffered SODIMM CMSX16GX4M1A2666C18
https://www.amazon.in/Corsair-Venge...efix=laptop+ddr4+ram+cor,computers,327&sr=1-2

will this model will work on my laptop? can I combine it with my current 2400mhz ram (I know if I do that my speed will get decrease to 2400mhz on both stick). I don't want that black screen no video output.

I just want to ensure this RAM model will work with my laptop or not.

The best match for your computer is this RAM stick:
https://www.amazon.in/Crucial-8GB-D...T8G4SFS824A&qid=1600152740&s=computers&sr=1-1

It is the choice indicated by Crucial for your PC and matches exactly the RAM stick you already have:

Crucial is generally regarded as the "to go" brand for OEM systems as your's

Solution
Buy the lowest CL possible, but know that just because a lower CL is available, it does not necessarily mean that it will operate at that CL, rather it will operate at the system's hardware assessment, since the BIOS on the 5577 does not support erntering custom dram values.
