I want to upgrade my system, but I don't know what will fit where or what is compatible. HELP!

Okay, I recently bought an older Acer system from a friend, and it was crap. It had 2GHz processing power, and 2gb RAM, and it was running Windows XP. I got past the Windows XP part, and I am now running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit. But now I want to upgrade the desktop itself. But I have no clue where to begin. I'm pretty tech-savvy but I'm stumped. Can anyone tell me a way to find out what parts types that would be compatible with my system? I have a crucial scan report, but in this case it's no dice. I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for your help.

looking at the screenshots, it seems to be an extremely old PC (and I expected this when you said 2 GB RAM running XP) still using DDR2 modules. Unfortunately, you would be better off building a new PC or even buying a cheap prebuilt rather than investing money trying to save this thing. The parts are simply too old to be of any use.

Depending on how much you paid for this, your friend may have ripped you off hard, intentionally or not.

I'm sadden to say I paid 100 bucks for this clunker. And even more is your response. I really don't want to believe this is unsolvable, but I guess I'll just build a new one.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news. More often than not, it's not worth buying a preowned PC as the parts tend to be outdated already, especially if it has an OS that has long been EOL (we are nearing Windows 10 release, 4 OS iterations after XP). I would suggest using this PC for HTPC or something and building a good PC that'll last you a couple of years down the road.

Being the rebel that I am, I have decided to try and throw some new parts on it and keep for Sims 3. I think I will e fine as long as I don't run BF4
