my pc wont load the installation disk even if i change the boot order from bios i press f8 and select the option to boot from cd but i doesnt work it just boots up the old version (xp)
can you give us some system information please? is the disk you have 32 bit, 64 bit, or both? are you certain your disk drive works? did you remember to save your bios settings before continuing? can you post a picture of your bios settings?
Watch your system carefully when you try to boot. My guess is that it tries briefly to load from the CD (a short blink of its indicator LED), fails, then proceeds to the second allowed boot device, your HDD. If that is what happens there are three possible causes:
(a) the optical drive is not working at all;
(b) the optical drive is dirty and you need to use a CD drive cleaner disk to clear away some dust inside; or,
(c) the Windows CD you're using is fault or dirty and cannot be read. To check this last idea, try reading that disk in another machine.
